First Established Industry in India – PDF + Static GK: In 1818, the first cotton mill in India was established in Fort Gloster, near Kolkata, but it was a commercial failure. In 1854, KGN Daber founded the Bombay Spinning and Weaving Company, India’s second cotton mill. This mill is credited with laying the foundations for India’s current cotton industry.
